About us

Anchor Staying Put South Manchester is a not-for-profit home improvement agency run by Anchor Trust. The agency was established in the early nineties to provide a holistic approach to older and disabled homeowners and private tenants, helping them to maintain their independence by repairing, improving and adapting their homes. There are a number of projects within the agency that will be able to help.

Staying Put Core Service

The Staying Put team can assist with disabled adaptations and renovation work needed to homes in the Manchester City area.  The type of work includes:

• Assistance to access Disabled Facility Grants, interest free loans, equity release, Renovation Grants, Energy Efficiency Grants and Home Security Grants from Manchester City Council.
• Finding other ways of funding building works for example Charities.
• Technical services to assist with building works – schedules, plans, on-site inspections, final inspection, and payments.
• Benefits advice and form filling.

Independent Living Service

The Manchester Independent Living service also established in 2002 provides short to medium term support for older and disabled people who want to stay in their own home. We work throughout the city to enhance the quality of life for our residents. Our Caseworkers give eight weeks intensive support, however, those people, who still appear to need continued support, will receive a further eight weeks.

The Independent Living team also has a Home From Hospital Caseworker, who will support the transition between hospital discharge and returning home, assisting with changes to make independent living a reality.
