About Us

Anchor Staying Put Shropshire is dedicated to improving the quality of life for older and vulnerable people by providing advice and assistance with improvements, repairs and adaptations to their properties, enabling them to remain active, increase their safety and promote their independence within their own homes.

Established over six years ago, the Shropshire Agency works in partnership with Supporting People, Social Services, North Shropshire District Council, South Shropshire District Council, Bridgnorth District Council, Shrewsbury & Atcham Borough Council, Oswestry Borough Council and the PCT.

There is an increasing emphasis by central and local government and by the Health Service on preventative services such as ours that allow you to stay in your own home.

These services includes:

• Adaptations – assisting customers to achieve the recommendations made by their Occupational Therapist for adaptations to their properties. Adaptations range from ramps, stairlifts, level access showers through to complete extensions providing ground floor sleeping and/or bathing facilities.
• Repairs – Medium scale repairs aimed at making the property safe, warm and watertight. In many cases this work can be funded by a local authority grant.
• Renovations – Large scale repairs to a property aimed at reversing major disrepair and bringing it up to the government Decent Homes Standard.
• Handyperson Service – to assist with small repairs, home security and safety.
• Advice and assistance –
  Advise customers on their eligibility for grants and other ways to finance work.
  Benefits advice and assistance to claim benefits where appropriate.
  Advice on Energy Efficiency, home security, local services.
  Administer projects covering the installation of fire alarms, door locks, chains and peepholes.
  Signposting to other agencies for information and/or support.
