  About Us

Anchor Staying Put is a home improvement organisation and the first Agency was
launched in 1978. Since then over 60 agencies have been established throughout
England.

Each agency of Anchor is dedicated to improving the quality of life of older and disabled
people by providing advice and assistance with adaptations, improvements and repairs
to their properties that will enable them to remain active, safe and independent in their
own homes.

A large part of the service on offer includes providing assistance to customers with the
funding process, technical advice, engagement of preferred contractors, maximising
income through applications for welfare benefits and inspecting work on site.

This allows the customer to feel relaxed about the whole procedure in the knowledge
the work is being arranged for them and in safe hands

Anchor Staying Put SALISBURY is a not-for-profit home improvement agency run by Anchor Trust, in partnership with Salisbury District Council, Supporting People and Wiltshire County Council. We provide a service designed to help older and disabled home owners and private tenants on low incomes who live within the area.

Anchor Staying Put SALISBURY can help you if you need repairs, improvements or adaptations to your property, enabling you to 'stay put' in your own home in comfort and safety. We offer confidential advice, support and assistance.

How does the service work?

Following receipt of a referral from Social Services Occupational Therapists we will visit you at home to discuss your needs and help you find the right solution.

  • If Anchor Staying Put is the answer we will help you decide exactly what work there is to do taking into account the skilled advice from the occupational therapist and subsequently arrange for drawings and schedules of work to be produced.
  • We will help obtain prices, advise on contractors and inspect the works on site. As well as the technical side we will also help you deal with any disruption that may be caused or unexpected faults that come to light once the work is completed.
  • If Anchor Staying Put is not the answer for you, we will try our best to put you in touch with the right people for what you need.

How do I pay for the cost of the works?

We will be happy to help you get information on the different ways of paying for the work.

Grants

Many customers receive grants from Salisbury District Council and Anchor Staying Put will advise you on your entitlement to financial help.
We can also help to fill in forms and keep you in touch with key personnel from the District Council providing the grant.

What are the Grants?

These consist of two types:-

1. DFG –Disabled Facilities Grants. Available to any one to assist with disabled adaptations. These are means tested.

2. DHRA – Decent Homes Repairs Assistance. Available to any one who needs repairs carried out to bring their home up to Decent Home Standards. These are also means tested.

How much do I pay Anchor?

Our advisory service is free. If you decide to carry out work with our help, a fee based on the cost of the work, between 12% and 15% dependent on the type of work, will be charged for the technical services provided. This fee can often be included in any grants for which you may be eligible. The amount will be confirmed to you in writing before work starts.
