About us

Staying Put Oldham and Tameside

Anchor Staying Put Oldham & Tameside is a Home Improvement Agency (HIA).   The agency is a not for profit locally based organisation which provides advice, support and practical help to vulnerable people who are homeowners or private tenants, that will enable them to remain active, increase their safety and promote their independence within their own homes

 

The two agencies merged in 2005 and work in partnership with the two Local Authorities.

Eligibility

Our service is predominantly aimed at the over 60’s but we are able to assist younger people with disabilities who live within the Oldham Local Authority.

Staying Put Core Service

The Staying Put Team can assist with most of the repairs and adaptations aimed at making your property safe, warm and watertight or repairs to those properties that do not currently meet the Decent Homes Standard. In many cases these jobs are funded by a local authority grant (not available in Tameside). If grants are unavailable, we will tell you about the options available to you to pay for the work, including equity release, other financial assistance from the local authority, charitable money and private finance.

The type of work we are able to help with includes:

  • Bathroom/toilet adaptations.
  • Ramped access.
  • Re-roofing/roofing repairs.
  • Gutters and rainwater goods.
  • Pointing/rendering.
  • Replacement windows and doors.
  • Extensions to provide a bedroom and shower facility on the ground floor.
  • Damp proof courses.
  • Electrical rewiring.
  • Pathways.

Hospital Discharge

The Hospital Discharge service was established in 2004 with the aim to carry out minor works to enable the patient to be discharged safely from hospital to their home, working in partnership with the Primary Care Trust and joint working with the hospital Occupational Therapist.

Adaptations Service

The Oldham Adaptations service was established in 1993 with the aim to help with minor adaptation to the property including such works as:

  • Grab Rails.
  • Hand Rails – internal and external.
  • Minor alterations to access steps.
  • Key Safes.

Signposting

In addition to providing the above services to our customers, staff make referrals to other agencies which may be able to help them.
