About us

Anchor Staying Put Kirklees was established in 1988. Its core aim is to provide support and information relating to home improvements, adaptations and repairs. It also prides itself on being able to give practical advice or sign posting on an assortment of issues related to property and wellbeing in order to assist people to stay in their own homes. Examples of this would be to help people obtain heating, benefit advice, security and safety in their own homes.

Anchor Staying Put is a not-for-profit Home Improvement Agency run by Anchor Trust, in partnership with Kirklees Metropolitan Council. We are here to help older and disabled homeowners.

Staying Put Core Service

Contact us if you need repairs, improvements or adaptations to your property that will help you to ‘stay put’ in comfort and safety. We offer confidential advice, support and assistance. From small repairs to major improvements and adaptations, we are here to help you. Our work is varied and includes:

•  Damp proofing.

•  Electrical rewiring.

•  Replacement windows.

•  Roofing.

•  Structural repairs.

•  Adaptation – bathrooms/kitchens.

The core service can assist with applying for home improvement grants (where applicable), or we can access information from other charitable agencies such as SSAFA, British Legion who may be able to offer financial help. We can look into the possibilities of doing the work privately for you should you feel that you can afford to pay for the work yourself, which would take out the worry of finding a reliable contractor and dealing with the paperwork and technical side of home improvements.
