  About Us

We recognise that most older and disabled people prefer to stay in their own home as they get older, or their needs change.

With the right advice, support and assistance to keep your property maintained and adapted for your needs, you can remain safely in your home. Indeed, there is increasing emphasis by central and local Government and the Health Service on "preventative" services to enable you to remain at home because there are proven benefits to this approach.

Anchor Staying Put exists to assist older and disabled people to "stay put" at home and if that is what you want, we can provide a range of advice and support services to enable it to happen.

Our purpose is to provide impartial advice, support and practical assistance to people over 60 and to disabled people of any age, to enable you to “stay put” to be independent and to enjoy warmth, security and safety within your own home.

If you are aged over 60, or disabled, we can provide a full survey, assessment and technical service to help you manage repair work and adaptations to your home, as well as offering our help in finding the funds to pay for these works. We always use reputable building contractors to carry out the work on your home and we inspect the work thoroughly before you have to pay for it.

We can help you with applying for local authority grants or loans that you may be eligible for, or with obtaining a low-interest loan or mortgage. We can also help you apply for funding from benevolent sources that you may be entitled to. Of course, if you are happy to pay for work from your own savings you will not need this part of our service.

What is a "Home Improvement Agency"?

Home Improvement Agencies are small, locally-based and locally-funded not-for-profit organisations. They exist to help homeowners and private-sector tenants, who are older, disabled or on low income, to repair, improve, maintain or adapt their homes. They also help tenants of Registereed Social Landlords with adaptations. They provide cost-effective help to local people and help to tackle poor or unsuitable housing, enabling customers to remain in their own homes, safe, secure, warm and independent.

As your local Home Improvement Agency, we offer a comprehensive service to enable essential repair and adaptation work in your home, and help you to manage the whole process.

Our services are home-based, which means that we will make an appointment to come and visit you at your home rather than wait for you to visit us.
